The staff is the foundation for a business as Hotel Sisimiut. Even though a lot of tasks and processes can be digitized and automated, the human overview and closeness are the leading factor in our daily routine.
We celebrate our differences and prioritize our coworkers’ trust and wellbeing. That means we demand commitment and efficiency. At the same time our basic belief is that, attitude and personality tops professionalism. We can teach each other professionalism – and we give each other personality and individuality.
That has created a spacious workplace with room for pupils, trainees, those in need of job, unskilled workers, a colorful bouquet of different nationalities, skilled workers and every one of us in between.
About Hotel Sisimiut
Hotel Sisimiut consists of 40 rooms, 8 hotel apartments, an incoming/excursion department, a training department, a restaurant and a bar.
Nasaasaaq, our brasserie and restaurant, serves hotel- and course guests, as it works as a company- and an á la carte restaurant. Besides servicing the restaurant and brasserie, the kitchen offers catering services to institutions and larger companies.
The reception receives and coordinates bookings and provides service to the guests of the hotel along with conference arrangements.
The excursion department arranges and offers excursions og experiences in and around Sisimiut on boat, dog sled and snowmobiles.

Hotel Sisimiut is part of the modern Sisimiut history a and is a testimony of alignment, opportunities, and taking chances as so many other private businesses in Greenland.
In the 60ties and 70ties there was a great need for housing in the larger cities of Greenland as the industries grow. In Sisimiut 15 apartment buildings were to be built. With such a huge project, there was a need to feed all these construction craftsmen.
The oldest part of the Hotel Sisimiut, that today is workshop, storage and kitchen was built to be a dining hall run by Gerth Andersen. It was soon after extended with a tavern where the men could hang out after working hours. Followed by a small room wing in the 70s.
In the early 1980s, Helge Tang and Carl Juhl took over the company and open a butcher shop in the part that today is a travel agency. It was no success, so they chose to expand the hotel with more rooms, which today is the first and second floor. In the current reception and conference, the hotel manager lived.
Throughout the 1980s, the tavern, the small inn in addition to the restaurant and the night club were a favorite place for the party-happy and social locals. Today many stories are told from those good old 80ties.
In the late 80s, Sys and Jørgen Lings took over the hotel Sisimiut and transformed the old tavern and nightclub into conference rooms. In addition, they expanded the hotel by 2 floors with rooms.
In the 00s, an operating company of Greenlandic investors took over the company, with Anette Grønkjær Lings as hotel manager. Beside renovating the old inn and restaurant and turning it into a brassiere and contemporary restaurant with a local décor, she added a tourism department to the company, with a special focus on adventure experiences in the area in and around Sisimiut. In the 10s, Bo and Anette Lings took full ownership and expanded the accommodation capacity with 7 hotel apartments.
